Greek Art
Day 1: Draw it
15 minute sketch of the Greek statue.
Day 2: Write it "Winged Victory of Samothrace"
-C. 200-190 BCE
-Displayed at the Louvre in Paris, France
-Discovered in 1863
- 8 feet tall
-Made of marble
-Created to honor the goddess Nike (Victory) and to honor a sea battle.
- Sense of action and triumph
+Standing in Contrapposto (Counterpose)
*Describes a figure standing with most of it's weight on one foot so the figure looks in motion
-Missing head, both arms, and a wing. The right arm is believe to have been raised near her mouth. The right wing is a copy of the left. Since her discovery they've found her right hand and a few fingers.
-The best surviving statue to display the talent/abilities of the Greek era.
Day 3: Creative Drawing
Draw a picture your own Greek god/goddess. 15 minutes
Day 4: Creative Writing
Research Greek Mythology (http://greece.mrdonn.org/myths.html) (Icarus and Daedalus is a good one) and write the mythology of your own Greek god/goddess. Use at least 5 sentences.
